After operating solely with a food truck for three years, Rocky’s BBQ has opened a bricks-and-mortar location in Columbia.

The 20-seat restaurant at 28 N. Third St. takes a spot next to Columbia Kettle Works. It has seating for around 20.

Rocky’s features Southern-style, wood-smoked barbecue and specializes in pulled pork, brisket and ribs. It also has macaroni and cheese, collard greens, beans and coleslaw.

The new space is designed as mainly a serving area, with cooking still being done in the food truck, which will still go out for some larger events.

Starting in January, Rocky’s plans on some Saturdays to do specials that could include beef ribs, beef, pork cheeks, chicken and turkey.

Rocky’s BBQ is owned by Lionel “Rocky” Cunningham and Connie Weidman.
