Middletown-based Tattered Flag Brewery & Still Works is planning to expand to Lancaster in a space near the train station where they will be joined by Escape Room Lancaster.
Tattered Flag Barrel House Lancaster is slated to open by the end of the year at 1018 N. Christian St., near the Lancaster Amtrak station
Situated next to Fulton Bank, behind the Station Square shopping center, the barrel house is expected to open by the end of the year, according to Tony DeLellis, who owns Tattered Flag with Patrick Devlin and Ben Ramsay.
Tattered Flag, which does its beer and liquor production in Middletown, plans to use the Lancaster location to store barrels or other finishing vessels.
For example, beer might be aged in barrels previously used to make whiskey or other liquor, which lends that flavor to the beer. Conversely, spirits might then be aged in barrels used for beer, giving them a beer flavor.
Tattered Flag Barrel House Lancaster will have what DeLellis describes as an “upscale deli menu” with sandwiches, soups and salads, including potato chips made in house. There will be seating inside for around 50, in addition to 25 on a planned deck.
Tattered Flag makes a variety of beer styles but is especially known for its New England-style IPAs and fruited, sour beers. It also distills gin, vodka, rum, bourbon, moonshine and tequila.
Tattered Flag has its flagship brewpub and distillery on South Union Street in Middletown, where it also has a coffee shop. In addition, Tattered Flag has a taproom in Gettysburg and a distillery room in Hershey.
At the new Lancaster location, Tattered Flag will share space with Escape Room Lancaster, which will move from Station Square to the second floor of the barrel house.
For Escape Room Lancaster, the new, larger space will has space four themed rooms for its live action adventure where participants use clues to get out of a locked room.
Escape Room Lancaster is owned by Mary Papadimitriou and her husband, Dimitri, who operate an Escape Room in Hershey that is next to a Tattered Flag taproom.
