Lancaster dressmaker Debby Spence has won a fourth honor in an annual garment design competition held by Threads magazine and the Association of Sewing & Design Professionals.

This time, Spence’s ensemble was judged best overall in a quilted garment challenge, in which contestants had to design and sew a unique ensemble featuring at least one major quilted garment.

Spence created what Threads called a “luxurious” three-piece silk ensemble with four types of hand and machine quilting.

Spence, who owns custom sewing and design business Debby Spence Ace Dressmaker, received a $400 prize from Threads. Her ensemble will be featured in the magazine’s June/July 2017.
