Gasoline prices in Lancaster County have dropped to a 17-month low, a price-tracking website reported Monday.
The average price here fell 4.5 cents per gallon to $2.43, GasBuddy said, based on its weekly survey of 147 gas stations in Lancaster County.
That’s the lowest local price since July 2017, the result of gas prices sliding for 12 straight weeks and 14 of the past 15 weeks.
Lancaster County gas prices began 2018 at $2.69, climbing to their peak for the year in late May at $3.07. The highest average price ever here was $4.00 in July 2008.
Patrick DeHaan, GasBuddy’s head of petroleum analysis, in the past has said that the drop in prices at the pump is due to soft demand and smaller-than-expected reductions in output by OPEC.
