After being closed for a week, the Ephrata Diner reopened Tuesday as Gus’s Keystone Family Restaurant.
The Ephrata restaurant at 3687 Rothsville Road was bought by Gus Kourgelis, who owns Gus’s Keystone Family Restaurant in Mount Joy at 1050 W. Main St.
Kourgelis said the Mount Joy restaurant has been successful and he hopes to create something similar in Ephrata.
For now, the Ephrata menu will stay largely the same, but items from the Mount Joy restaurant will slowly be introduced, Kourgelis said.
Workers spent a week cleaning the former Ephrata Diner and updating some equipment. Kourgelis said more renovations are planned in the future.
The 300-seat restaurant, which is located across from Kmart, has about 40 employees, most of whom worked at it when it was the Ephrata Diner.
Gus’s Keystone Family Restaurant in Ephrata will eventually move to being open 24 hours a day, Kourgelis said, but for now is open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. 738-7381, guskeystone.com
