This month, Aldi closed one store in Manheim Township and opened another nearby.
The discount grocer’s store in the Golden Triangle shopping center at 1302 Lititz Pike closed. It's been replaced by a new Aldi opening today at 1884 Fruitville Pike, a mile and a half away.
The new Aldi occupies 24,000 square feet of space in part of the former Kmart, according to Manheim Township records. It is next to the home decor store At Home. The new store will have 15 to 20 employees; all employees at the Golden Triangle location are being offered jobs at the new one, a spokesman said.
Aldi, the German-based discounter best known for its low prices and no-frills approach, opened its Golden Triangle store in 2008. The 5,000-square-foot store is the smallest of the grocer’s three Lancaster County locations.
Aldi is also developing a store off Rohrerstown Road in Lime Spring Square, which is slated to open this summer.
