Local high school tennis players fared well in the first day of the Boys' District Three Singles Tournament, with four Lancaster-Lebanon League athletes comprising the Class AAA semifinals.

Top-seeded Darren Mast of Conestoga Valley defeated Cumberland Valley's Ethan Lynn, 6-2, 6-0, to advance to Monday's semifinals, where he will face Hempfield's Andrew Clark. Clark handily defeated No. 4 seed Ben Kunkel of Red Land in the second round, 6-1, 6-2.

The lower half of the bracket will have third-seeded David Musser of Manheim Township meeting Cedar Crest's Weston Fortna in the semis. Musser defeated Hempfield's Derek Hagino, 6-4, 6-4 to advance to Monday's play. Fortna, the No. 2 seed, defeated Adam Gante of Dallastown, 6-2, 6-1.

In Class AA, the lone local player to advance to the semifinals was No. 2 seed Blaise Casselbury of Lancaster Country Day. He defeated Alex Altman of Wyomissing, 6-0, 6-2, to keep the Spartans from putting four players in the semifinals.

Wyomissing's brother tandem of Ricardo and Rodrigo Saad, the No. 1 and No. 3 seeds, respectively, advanced to the semis. Ricardo defeated Pequea Valley's John Archibald, 6-0, 6-0 in the first round before knocking off Joel Garrett of Hanover by a simliar score.

Rodrigo Saad will face Casselbury on Monday after defeating Elco's Adam Bahney, 6-4, 6-2. Rounding out the semifinal participants is Adnre Fick, who defeated Wes Davis of Lancaster Country Day by a score of 6-3, 6-0.
