If you've finished your breakfast before you've reached this space, it may be too late for you to celebrate the day. Today has been declared (by someone, somewhere) to be both "Waffle Day" and "Pecan Day." Which, had we realized it early enough, would have been the perfect reason to substitute pecan waffles for ordinary oatmeal for our morning repast.
But take heart. Although we are almost out of March, there are a few more special days coming up before the month is gone.
Friday, March 30, has been named "Take a Walk in the Park Day." No specific park mentioned along with the "holiday" title, so one can apparently walk in whatever park one chooses. My favorites: those that have paths in the woods, boardwalks through wetlands or river walks - although on a warm and sunny day, a park with a lakeside pathway that ends at a frozen custard stand is perfectly acceptable.
But the best day to note this month is Monday, March 26. Those who decide these things have declared Monday to be "Make Up Your Own Holiday Day," which prompts a slew of ideas.
You might opt for "No Work Today Because I'm Engrossed in a New Jodi Picoult Book." Or how about "Recovering From Filing Income Tax Day?" Need some "down time" after a particularly busy week? You might simply want to take a "Sit in a Chair and Stare at the Wall Day."
Wow. Make up your own holiday? Imagine the possibilities!
