Christian S. Herr, 89, of Willow Street, passed away at Willow Valley Retirement Community on Thursday, October 11, 2012. Born in Manor Township March 20, 1923, he was a son of the late Ira L. and Mary (Stauffer) Herr. Christian is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Helen M. (Mann) Herr.

Mr. Herr was a lifelong member of the Willow Street Mennonite Church and was a devoted attendee of the ­Senior Men's Sunday School. Christian was a dedicated farmer, and in his later years, was a truck driver for Herr's Foods Inc. He was an avid member of the Hans Herr House Society to which he had donated a barn, a pasture and enjoyed raising Belgian horses as a hobby.

In addition to his wife, Christian is survived by his 4 sons: Jay C., Gerald G., husband of Joni, Dale L. Herr, all of Willow Street, Donald L. Herr of Manheim, and a grandson, Steven Herr of Willow Street; a brother, Ira Herr of Farmersville and a sister, Anna Mae Herr of Arizona. He is preceded in death by his brother, James S. Herr, and his sister, Mary Metzler.

Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 16, at ­Willow Street Mennonite Church, 399 East Penn Grant Rd., Willow Street, PA 17584 with Robert Breneman and Joe Sherer officiating. A viewing is scheduled from 1-3 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow the service in the adjoining church cemetery.
