Jasmyn Lynn "Jazzy" Smith, age 11, of Columbia, was called home by Angels to meet the Lord, Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. Born in Columbia, she was the daughter of Stephan L. and Lindy K. Phiel Smith. Jazzy was an honor student at Park Elementary School, Columbia, where she was going to enter the sixth grade. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Columbia. Jazzy enjoyed cheerleading, swimming, music and dancing, and hanging out with her friends. She loved to play softball and go out on her dad's boat fishing. Jazzy had a smile that could light up a room. She will be deeply missed.
In addition to her parents, Jazzy is survived by her sisters: Jailyn E. Phiel at home; Jada L. Smith at home, her paternal grandparents: Mark Jones of York; Frank and Bonnie Gilbert of Columbia, her maternal grandparents: Larry and Jean Phiel of Red Lion, her paternal great-grandmother: Thelma L. Smith of Columbia, her maternal great-grandmother: Virginia L. Phiel of York, and a host of uncles, aunts, and cousins.
A funeral service for Jazzy will be held Saturday, September 1, 2012, from St. John's Lutheran Church, Sixth and Locust Streets, Columbia, at 1PM (Viewing 9AM-1PM) with Reverend Peter Bergstresser officiating. Interment will follow in Habecker's Mennonite Cemetery. Please omit flowers.
