Pet of the Week
Kylie is ready to retrieve a new home life By Laura Vinroe, Humane League of Lancaster County
Beautiful Kylie is a well-mannered golden retriever who has loads of love to give.
This affectionate 7-year-old spent many years surrounded by adults and kids who loved her dearly, but tragedy struck Kylie's happy life when her owner passed away. Kylie is house-trained and she knows basic obedience commands. She is great with other dogs, but requests a home without cats.
Kylie loves time spent close by her person's side, and she also has a playful side that comes out during a game of fetch or time in a kiddie pool. Right in the middle of her golden years, Kylie is longing to become a loved family member once again. Welcome gentle Kylie into your life, and she will be forever devoted to you.
Kylie is available for adoption at the Humane League of Lancaster County, 2195 Lincoln Highway East. Many of the available animals can also be viewed online at humaneleague.com. Regular shelter hours are 3-8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, noon to 7 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. The shelter is closed Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Call the league at 393-6551.
From Feb. 19-25, the league received five dogs and seven cats. Six dogs and 19 cats were adopted; four cats were transferred to other rescue organizations. Previously featured cat Jezebel has been adopted.
The league is partnering with Ephrata Area School District to hold a low-cost vaccine clinic for dogs and cats 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Agri-Science Learning Center Pavilion, 189 S. Market St., Ephrata.
Cost for this first-come, first-served event is $10 per dog or cat. All dogs must be on a leash, and all cats must be in a secure carrier. Dog licenses will also be available for purchase.n
