Baseball

Challenger Little League of Lancaster County, a baseball program endorsed by Little League International, is taking registrations for the 2013 spring season. Open to all children (5-18 years old, or still in school) who have a disability that does not allow them to participate in a traditional baseball program. There is no cost for the program. Baseball/Softball

The Crawdads Baseball Organization will be hosting 10U tryouts for its travel team from 6:30-9 p.m. Feb. 22 at the Garden Spot Middle School gym. The 10U team will hold weekly practices and play in a minimum of seven tournaments. There are also two roster spots looking to be filled on a highly competitive U15 team. Manor Ridge Athletic Association is accepting online registrations for its spring baseball, softball and tee-ball programs. Baseball registration is open to boys 6-14 and softball registration is open to girls 14 and under. Tee-ball is offered for both boys and girls. MRAA is a member organization of Lancaster County Youth Baseball and Lancaster County Girls Fastpitch Associations and offers an all travel-team format. Manheim Township Baseball & Softball Association is currently holding registration for their 2013 spring/summer leagues. Basketball

The Ephrata Recreation Center will hold its 21st annual Three-on-three Basketball Tournament Saturday, March 9 and Sunday, March 10. Divisions include men's open, men's B, men's 35 and over, boys' grade 11-12, 9-10, 7-8, and 5-6; girls' grade 11-12, 9-10, 7-8 and 5-6. Awards will be given for 1st and 2nd place in each division of the double elimination tournament. Entry fees are $69 for adult teams and $59 for youth teams. Entry deadline is Mar. 6. The Bloomsburg University athletic department will be hosting its second annual National Girl and Women in Sports Day on Saturday, Feb. 9 at the Nelson Field House. There will be a free basketball clinic featuring the Huskies' women's team at 10 a.m. The clinic is open to girls in elementary school up to and including high school. All participants in the clinic will be given a free ticket to the Huskies' 1 p.m. game with Cheyney. The Lancaster County Junior Golf Tour offers a summer long series of competitive golf tournaments for boys and girls residing in a Lancaster-Lebanon League school district, ages 9 through 18 (and still enrolled in school -- high school graduates are not eligible). The Kiwanis Cup Invitational Match Play Championship will be held at Dauphin Highlands Golf Club Friday, June 21. Proceeds support the treatment and care for the critically ill and mentally and/or physically-challenged children of our area at the Children's Miracle Network Children's Hospital at Hershey Medical Center and the Camp Lady Bug programs. Only 64 two-person teams slots are available and the deadline for registration is June 7th. Hockey

East Petersburg Inline Hockey will hold registration for the spring youth roller hockey league from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturdays, Feb. 16 and 23 at Play It Again Sports, 411 Granite Run Dr., Lancaster. Lacrosse

Lancaster Area Girls Lacrosse Association provides opportunities for girls, grades 3-8, to learn and play the game of Lacrosse. Local teams provide instruction, practices, and games. Parents and players will be given instruction to the rules, basic skills, and game strategy. Parents are needed to help coach. You will be provided instruction and training. Manheim Township Lacrosse is holding open registration for boys in grades 2-8 for the winter session and spring season. The winter session runs from 1-2:30 p.m. Sundays at Manheim Township Athletic Complex on Weaver Road. The spring season begins March 4. Lanco Elite Lacrosse Club, a local nonprofit club for female players, will hold its second tryout for the high school summer 2013 teams from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, at Lancaster Country Day School, 725 Hamilton Road. All female lacrosse players in graduating years 2014-17 are welcome to try out for a spot on one of the four high school teams. Running

Junior League of Lancaster's eighth annual Run 4 Luck will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, March 16, at Lancaster Country Day School. Participants can register for the run/walk and the kids run at active.com, or registration forms can be printed out from run4luck.com and mailed in by March 5 to the Run4Luck Committee, C/O 5 Bently Lane, Lititz, PA 17543. The chip timed run/walk begins on Hamilton Road and includes a picturesque four-mile course through a residential area with gently rolling terrain. The Pequea Valley Church Softball League is seeking one church to fill a vacancy in its men-only 12-team slow pitch league. The Ephrata Recreation Center is taking registrations for its 2013 girls fast pitch softball teams. Girls ages 7-14 as of Jan. 1, 2013 are eligible. A new Tri-County 50 and Over Senior Modified Softball League is forming for southern Berks, eastern Lancaster and Chester counties. Most fields are within 25 minutes of southern Berks/eastern Lancaster county lines. The league will be nine-man modified, 10 players in the field. Accepting new teams and new players. Tennis

Lancaster Tennis Patrons Association will sponsor the Fred W. Steinman Patrons Cup at 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Saturdays, March 2-23, at Racquet Club West in Lancaster. Volleyball

Hempfield Youth Association volleyball registration is now open. Registration will be done online. At the www.hyasports.com home page click on the link for Volleyball and follow the instructions. Deadline: March 3. For Hempfield School District residents in grades 6-12 (boys & girls). Individuals or teams of six-eight players may register. Cost is $50 per player (includes shirt and awards). HYA Volleyball is an intramural program comprised of weekly matches with startup practice/clinic time included. Games will be for one hour between 6:30 - 9:30 p.m. weeknights depending on gym availability. The season will run from March 11-May 2.

The Lititz recCenter offers volleyball programs starting from 6:15-7 p.m. Monday, March 4 for ages 7-11 to learn the basics and play the game. Fee: $20 member and $40 nonmember. Middle Atlantic Wrestling Association (MAWA) Preliminary District Tournament will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 2 at Susquehannock High School. Mandatory weigh-ins will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 1. Walk-ins and weight class changes will be accepted at that time. No walk-ins accepted March 2. The Area IX Section 2 wrestling tournament will be held Wednesday, Feb. 17 at Hempfield High School. Weigh-ins from 7-8 a.m. Wrestling begins at 9 a.m. No walk-ins. Wrestlers must reside in Adams, Berks, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry, Schuylkill or York Counties. Top three finishers in each weight class advance to Area IX championship Saturday, March 16 at Central Dauphin East High School.
