Man hurt in home invasion

Several people broke into a city home early Saturday morning, assaulted the resident and made off with several hundred dollars worth of cash, electronics and clothing, Lancaster city police reported.

The home invasion happened in the 200 block of South Ann Street between 2 and 2:30 a.m., said Lt. James Smith.

Police were called to the hospital to meet with the victim, a 24-year-old man, whose injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Smith had few details later Saturday morning, but he said the preliminary investigation indicated the victim did not know the assailants. Smith could provide no description of the attackers. No one else was in the home at the time of the incident, he said.

MANHEIM TWP.: Michael S. Eisenhart, 34, of Gish Road, Manheim, was charged Thursday at Walmart, 2030 Fruitville Pike, after he removed a laptop charger valued at $85 from its packaging and left without paying.

MANHEIM TWP.: A white male described as having a heavy build, took DVDs valued at $273 on Jan. 27 at Giant, 1605 Lititz Pike. He left in a red vehicle.

MANHEIM TWP.: Larry D. Fox, 39, of Waverly Avenue, was charged Thursday following a domestic incident with his estranged wife in the 500 block of Candlewyck Road, in which he pushed his way into her residence and made threats, police said.

LANCASTER TWP.: A window on a vehicle in the first block of Ranck Avenue was shattered overnight Wednesday into Thursday.

LANCASTER TWP.: Two male juveniles, ages 14 and 16, both of Lancaster, were charged with burglary and conspiracy following a daytime burglary on Nov. 1 in the 300 block of South West End Avenue. The boys broke a window of a home and then forced a male occupant into the basement. Electronics and sneakers were taken. One male has also been charged with theft.

MILLERSVILLE BOROUGH: Four people were injured in a two-car crash at 7:24 p.m. at Shenks Lane and West Frederick Street. Seven people were inside the two vehicles and four were taken to a local hospital. None of the injuries was life threatening, said Chief Keith Eshleman of Blue Rock Fire Rescue. Millersville University police were investigating the crash.

LONDONDERRY TWP.: State police are charging both drivers of a two-vehicle crash early Saturday morning with driving under the influence. Police said a car driven by a 40-year-old man from Elizabethtown crashed on Route 283 shortly before 1:22 a.m. The car was disabled in the right lane and a car driven by a 26-year-old man from Coal Township ran into the rear of the disabled car.

Both men were injured and were taken to Hershey Medical Center. State police said an investigation of the crash revealed that both drivers were driving under the influence at the time of the crash. Charges are pending.

EARL TWP.: Lee Stull-Weaver, 24, of Gordonville, lost control of his vehicle while driving on snow-covered South Shirk Road on Friday evening. At the intersection with Nolt Road, Stull-Weaver's vehicle slid and struck an embankment.

WERNERSVILLE: State police say a fire was started in a restroom at Building 27 at Wernersville Community Corrections Center Saturday afternoon. Fire and smoke damage was contained to the restroom. Damage was set at $5,000.
