Hempfield wins in OT

GIRLS' BASKETBALL

Alecia Rohrer had 15 points and Hannah Kelly and Sarah Helgeson 14 apiece as Hempfield edged downingtown West 58-54 in overtime in a nonleague girls' basketball game Saturday.

Garden Spot 37, Schuylkill Valley 36: Holly Schnader scored 13 points and Hailey Fricke and Brandi Styer 10 apiece to lead host Spartans.

Hershey 47, Elizabethtown 41: Jennifer Fairbanks scored 15 points for the Bears, who were outscored 14-8 in the final quarter to fall at Hershey.

Upper Dauphin 36, Lancaster Country Day 24: Jayme Verman's team-high 13 points was not enough to pull the Cougars past the host Trojans. UD's Krysta Wynn led all scorers with 16 points, including three 3-point goals.

Lancaster Catholic 71, Eastern York 59: Porscha Speller had a season-high 27 points, Erin Holt chipped in 11 and Emily Martin added 10 to lead the Crusaders.
