Pet of the Week
Side by side with Gimli By Laura Vinroe, Humane League of Lancaster County
Gimli is an adorable Maltese mix with big, brown eyes who is looking for a person in whom he can place his love and trust.
This gentle 8-pound boy was found living on the streets and, as evidenced by his skinny frame, Gimli certainly wasn't cut out for the life of a stray. But that's nothing a well-deserved grooming and a few hardy meals can't fix. At the wise age of 10, Gimli displays excellent manners and has mastered the art of friendship. Wherever you go, he likes to be right by your side.
Gimli would love a quiet home with a cozy bed and a special someone to snuggle next to. He is already neutered and ready to go home today. All Gimli needs is a friend: Someone to love and accept him for the fluffy, snaggle-toothed cutie that he is.
Gimli is available for adoption at Humane League of Lancaster County, 2195 Lincoln Highway East. Many of our available animals can also be viewed online at humaneleague.com. Regular shelter hours are 3-8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, noon to 7 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. The shelter is closed Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Call the league at 393-6551.
From Jan. 22-28, the league received 31 dogs and 16 cats. Eight dogs and 38 cats were adopted; one stray cat was reclaimed by its owners. Four cats and one dog were transferred to other rescue organizations. Previously featured cat Hershey has been adopted.
Attention Lancaster City and Lancaster Township residents: The league will spay or neuter your cat (owned or feral) for free. Please email spayneuter@ humaneleague.com to schedule an appointment or to learn more details. Spaces are limited so be sure to email today. A very special thank you to PetSmart Charities for its two-year, $100,000 grant, which allows the league to perform these surgeries free of charge.n
