Michael E. Joyce of Lancaster, formerly of New Holland, San Francisco, London, Paris, Provence, Amsterdam, and Seville ended his adventures January 31, 2013, following 68 years of love, laughter, good wine and cheese.Born in West Chester to the late Edward M. Joyce and Jane Swords Joyce, Michael will be missed by his wife Marian Crowley Joyce and daughters Nora Joyce and Maeve Joyce, all of Lancaster, and Wendy Li of Millersville; brothers Peter Joyce of Lancaster, Daniel (Kathy) Joyce of Downingtown, Philip (Becky) Joyce of Exton, and Paul Joyce of Media; sisters Patricia Tuszl (John) of Lancaster, and Mary Anne Pringle (Keith) of Fairless Hills; and an extensive clan of other Crowleys and Joyces. His brother Christopher and sister Kathleen preceded him in death.He graduated from Lancaster Catholic High School; received the Honor Recruit Award from Naval Training Station Great Lakes, MI; served on the USS WASP (CVS-18) and was on board for the recovery of Gemini 6; earned an Associate Degree from City College, San Francisco, and a BA from Lebanon Valley College (1994). As mailroom supervisor at F&M College for almost 20 years, Michael especially enjoyed the students and his roles in the campus Fum Follies productions. He collected memorabilia and was a certified diesel mechanic who loved everything Irish. He also enjoyed mysteries, yard sales, oysters, finding mistakes in movies, and arguing with the TV during Eagles games. Through explanation and example he taught his daughters how to be, and how not to be. Reluctantly they admit he taught them almost everything they know.The family is grateful for the excellent care Michael received from staff at Lancaster Regional Hospital ICU and Hospice on Good Drive.Donations in Michael's memory may be made to the Lancaster YWCA, 110 N. Lime St., Lancaster, PA 17602. Visitation with the family, Monday, Feb. 4 at 10 am with a service to follow at 11 a.m. at Unitarian Universalist Church, 538 W.
