Jack V. Haas, 83, of the Masonic Village, Elizabethtown and formerly of York died on January 24, 2013. He was the husband of Lois C. Haas with whom he shared 58 years of marriage.Born December 31, 1929 in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Harold and Isabelle (Miller) Haas.In addition to his wife, Lois, Jack is survived by a son, Steven W. Haas and daughter-in-law, Irma Haas of Dover, 4 grandchildren, Justin W. Haas and Kyle S. Haas both of Dover, Nicole Zengerle of York Haven, PA and Anthony Rodgers of Etters, PA; and 9 great grandchildren, Annabelle, Lakin, Georgia, Cleo, and Jack Zengerle, Robert and Anthony Rodgers, and Makenna and Lyla Haas.Jack graduated from Chatham High School, New Jersey and attended Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was President and founder of Village Finance Company, 1771 East Market Street, York which he opened in 1954. He was past Chairman and on the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Financial Association, Harrisburg, and past Board Member of the American Financial Association, Washington, D.C. He was on the Advisory Board of the former York Bank and Trust Company, now M&T Bank.Jack was a member of Zeredatha Lodge, #451 Free and Accepted Masons, York, Scottish Rite of Harrisburg, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, York Forest #30, York Rangers Drill Team and the York County and Elizabethtown Shrine Clubs. He was a Charter Member, Elder, and Clerk of Session of Eastminster Presbyterian Church, York. Jack served on the Board of the York Capital Performing Arts Center and the American Heart Association.Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 311 Haines Road, York with the Rev. Dr. Greg Seckman and the Rev. Charles W. Holsinger officiating. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held Wednesday from 10:00-10:45 a.m. with a Masonic Service at 10:45 a.m. all at the church.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the endowment fund of Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 311 Haines Road, York, PA 17402.The Etzweiler Funeral Home, York is in charge of arrangements.www.etzweiler.com
