George J. Gass

George Gass, 91, Bowmansville, died Jan. 18, 2013, in Reading Hospital. Born in Orange, NJ, a son of George and Elizabeth (McConnell) Gass, he was the husband of Noreen C. (Fletcher) Gass 69 years. A member of St. Paul?s UCC, he was active in the Bowmansville Fire Co. fire police. George enjoyed hunting, ­fishing, whittling, playing ­harmonica and singing with ­barbershop quartets. He was a WWII Navy veteran and worked for ATT-Bell Laboratories. Also surviving: daughter, Maureen (Gerald) Gass Smith, Monrovia, MD; sons, George L. (Jeanette) Gass, Taneytown, MD; and Michael J. Gass, Seattle, WA; 10 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Dorothy Gass & Mary Lou Clinton, both Richmond, VA. A son, Donald R. Gass, and sister, Elizabeth Boratto, preceded him in death. MEMORIAL SERVICE: Saturday, Feb. 9, 11 AM, St. Paul?s U.C.C., 133 Church St., Bowmansville, PA 17507.
