Ralph "Clair" Kauffman, Sr.
"Clair" Kauffman, Sr.R. Clair Kauffman, Sr., 81 of Millersville, PA, passed away as a result of a farm accident on Friday, May 3, 2013. Clair was the loving husband of Shirley Ann Neiss Kauffman. They had celebrated 59 years of marriage on March 8th of this year.Clair was born in Holtwood, PA, a son of the late Roy S. and Reba Campbell Kauffman.He had been self-employed as a truck driver.Clair was the owner of the popular attraction, Getz Steam Calliope, which could be seen at many of the local fairs and parades. An antique tractor restorer, collector, and enthusiast, he was a member of Friends of Massey Harris Tractor Club, Rough and Tumble Engineers Assoc., and Fawn Grove Olde Tyme Days. He also enjoyed antique tractor pull competitions both as a spectator and participant.Clair enjoyed attending auctions and country and gospel music.Clair had honorably served his country in the US Army during the Korean War.He attended Bethesda United Methodist Church.In addition to his wife Shirley, Clair will be lovingly missed by his 6 children: Barbara Ann Kauffman, Temple, PA, Deborah Boerger, wife of Larry, Lancaster, Beverly Cunningham, Columbia, Ralph C. "Butch" Kauffman, Jr., husband of Amelia, Mt. Wolf, PA, Roy Charles "Charlie" Kauffman, companion of Shawnet Diehl, Mt. Nebo, PA, Raymond A. Kauffman, Millersville, PA, 14 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 2 brothers: Russell Kauffman, Willow Street, Carl Kauffman, Lyndon, and a grand dog, Kayla. He was predeceased by 4 brothers: Edward, Luther, Roy and Jay Kauffman, and a sister, Helen Shenk.Funeral service will be held Monday, May 13, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at Bethesda United Methodist Church, Hilldale Rd. and Bethesda Church Rd. West, Holtwood, PA. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitations will be held Sunday, May 12, 2013, from 6:30-8:30 P.M. at Reynolds Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., 144 East State Street, Quarryville, PA, and on Monday one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to "Friends of the Calliope," C/O PNC Bank, Millersville Branch, 101 Wabank Road, Millersville, PA 17551.
