Elizabethtown arranges financing

As work continues on parking improvements at the Amtrak station and a pedestrian and bicycle pathway through town, Elizabethtown Borough officials have renewed a financial arrangement to support the projects.
Both projects are fully funded through grants, but the borough has authorized a $3 million general obligation bond that allows it to expedite payments to contractors.
The line of credit was re-established April 23 by borough council.
The $2.5 million train station renovation includes a new, lighted, 80-space parking lot at the end of Wilson Avenue, concrete parking pads for motorcycles, a shelter to house bicycles ridden to the station by train commuters, security cameras and new sidewalks and crosswalks.
The pedestrian and bicycle pathway is a $1.1 million project that is building a walking path from the train station to the Elizabethtown Area High School. That pathway now goes from the train station to the downtown.
