Charles W. Martin, Jr., 79, of Lancaster, entered peacefully into eternal rest on Wednesday evening, April 24, 2013 at LGH. He was the devoted husband of Juliana M. (Eck) Martin with whom he was married thirty-three years last September 8. Charlie was last employed by the former Quinlan Pretzel Company, Denver, PA as Vice President of Finance for thirty-one years.Born April 21, 1934 in Lancaster, with many fond memories of Cabbage Hill, he was the son of the late Charles W. and Lucy O. (Schmitt) Martin. Charlie was a lifelong devout Catholic and an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Legion of Mary. He was a proud third-degree member of Knights of Columbus 867 and a fourth-degree member of Santa Maria Assembly, where he was a member of the Honor Guard for many years.Charlie was a 1953 graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School and a 1957 graduate of Villa Nova University and served in the U. S. Army. He enjoyed spending time with his family.In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Theresa M. (Martin) Kaufhold, and two granddaughters, LucyAnn Marie and Jeannie Marie. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lucille G. Weidman. Charlie accepted the "crosses" that were given to him and always had a kind word and a story to share. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held from St. Joseph Catholic Church, 440 St. Joseph Street, Lancaster, PA 17603 on Monday, April 29, 2013 at 10 AM with the Rev. Msgr. Thomas H. Smith as the Celebrant. Interment will be in the St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery, Bausman, PA with Military Honors. Friends may call at the Andrew T. Scheid Funeral Home "Sullivan Home," 121 South Prince Street, Lancaster, PA 17603 (on-site parking with attendants) on Sunday evening between 7 and 9 PM. The Rosary will be recited at 8:30 PM Sunday evening at Scheid?s. Friends may also call at the St. Joseph Catholic Church on Monday morning between 9 and 10 AM. Casket Guard and Honor Guard will be accorded by Santa Maria Assembly. Kindly omit flowers.
