Hempfield dances to 'Big Top'
Hempfield High School will present its annual Dance Theatre production, "Under the Big Top," with 7:30 p.m. shows on Friday and Saturday and a 2:30 p.m. show Sunday.
A preview performance for Hempfield residents 65 and older will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Performing Arts Center, 200 Stanley Ave., Landisville.
The theater lobby will act as the circus "midway." Vendors will sell cotton candy, balloons and popcorn. Student artists also will be on hand to paint faces for children.
When the show begins, the audience will see the tent rise in front of their eyes and the three-ring circus will be revealed. "Under the Big Top" has numerous specialty acts including a circus "band," an eerie side show, a wild West show that mimics old pony shows and a cast of multiplying pink elephants.
The production boasts a cast of 120 student dancers led by director Cody Smith.
Principal dancers include: Annelise Ferreira, Kelsey Brown, Savannah Eklund, Hope Abrom, Taylor Lutz, Jen Cain, Christine Sikking, Laurel Murr, Alexa Ressler, Kylie Criswell, Jess Westen, Macy Skiles, Jamie Herman, Tati Kasun, Jon Eaton, Brian Bui, Megan McGuire, Mikey Sanchez, Michael Duschl, Amanda Siegrist, Philip Eaton and Brian Luu.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students and senior citizens. Tickets will be available in the lobby from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. today as well as before the shows.
