Self-defense a Biblical right
To the editors:
Ms. Rhonda Baldwin (April 3) limits her Bible education to the New Testament. Except for Jesus' reformations of Biblical law, Mr. Stoltzfus' right to protect his property (from thieves) his wife and children (from rapists) and his own life (from murders) with any kind of weapon, including a gun, is a God-given right; and a duty to his family.
If Ms. Baldwin turns back the pages of her Bible (depending on what version she reads) to Exodus 22:2; "If a thief is caught breaking in, and he is struck so he dies, the victim shall not be held liable for the thief's death."
I hope Ms. Baldwin is smart enough to realize this when a criminal randomly picks her house to assail, and no one can get to her house in time to save her life, and/or her dignity.
