Unfairness in sentences for sex offenders
TO THE EDITORS:
Thanks to Diane Romano, April 11, for bringing up the lack of fairness in criminal sentencing.
I am so fed up by reading of the very lengthy and nearly life sentences of sex offenders. Yes, they deserve to be sentenced. But mostly the acts took place with someone in mid- to late-teens who know perfectly well what they were doing. It's not like they were held captive. They met with said offender over and over by their own choice.
I am sickened by the brutal and horrific abuse and deaths of these very young babies and children. The children are beaten, slammed into doorways, starved, put into cellars, abused and neglected. Yet, their abusers get a couple of years' punishment.
Maybe abortion isn't such a bad thing.
