Scheid opens at Sullivan Home Environmental honors for 2 firms
The Andrew T. Scheid Funeral Home in the Historic Sullivan Home, 121 S. Prince St., held a grand opening Tuesday.
Including the cost of acquiring, renovating and equipping the property, the project cost exceeded $1 million.
The funeral home is Scheid's second location. He has operated his funeral home on Blue Rock Road, Millersville, since 1995.
The city facility's name recognizes the property's past as the William S. Sullivan Jr. Funeral Home from 1944 to 1974.
Tuesday would have been the 100th birthday of the late Sullivan.
After Sullivan, the property then was the Robert J. Danos Funeral Home from 1975 until the early 1980s.
From 1983 to May 2012, it was the site of Manos House, a residential drug and alcohol treatment center.
Two Lancaster County companies are among 19 organizations statewide to win Environmental Excellence Awards, it was announced Thursday.
Kline's Services was recognized for its methane digester, which fuels an electrical generator.
RETTEW was picked for its Chesapeake Energy roadway restoration and upgrade project.
The winners were selected by the state Department of Environmental Protection and the nonprofit Pennsylvania Environmental Council.
