Pa.'s education funding seen as inadequate
TO THE EDITORS:
A headline, March 26, read: "Petition: Restore MT programs."
Why have we come to the point where we are not funding public education adequately? To have productive, informed citizens who can compete in today's world economy and participate effectively in our American democracy, we need a strong public education system.
Gov. Corbett's proposed 2013-2014 budget claims to increase public education funding. In fact, due to serious funding cuts in the last two years, the proposed budget does not restore the education funding to previous levels. Those of us who support public education need to speak up and actively push for proper funding.
Express your support for public education by calling, writing or visiting your legislators.
