E-town students plan vigil for victims of hate crimes
Elizabethtown College students will gather Friday night to protest bias-related incidents on campus.
The candlelight vigil, a show of solidarity for victims of such incidents, will begin at 7:30 p.m. in front of Brossman Student Commons.
"We're holding the vigil in response to recent hate crimes to show love and solidarity for African-American, Jewish and LGBT students targeted in these crimes," said event organizer Stacy Catigano.
"Personally, I'm upset because I'm a mother and feel that all students have the right to a safe environment.
"I've known about these incidents for a while, and when I started hearing about students considering dropping out, I knew I had to do something."
