It's no secret women love fashion. And Thursday's New Holland Area Woman's Club Fashion Show & Luncheon promises to showcase the latest spring fashions for women.
Club members will model a colorful collection of chic, classic and trendy clothing styles and accessories from Ruthie's Tee Co., 2687 Philadelphia Pike, Bird-in-Hand.
"The fashions and accessories modeled by six of our members will be suitable for the office, an evening out or a casual get-together with friends," said Louise Bleiler, publicity chair for the event which will be held at Shady Maple.
The young-at-heart models, aged 50 to 82, are pros when it comes to walking the fashion runway. Most of them, including Jean Martin, have modeled in the past four Woman's Club Fashion Shows.
"I just like clothes," chuckled Martin, a New Holland resident who at age 79 has been modeling in fundraising shows for more than 40 years. She enjoys doing it to raise money for worthwhile causes.
Joan Dopler from Denver agreed, saying she believes age is irrelevant when it comes to fashion.
Martin and Dopler join members Jan Haas, Mary Beth O'Donnell, Joan Riale and Melody Ream who will each model three outfits during the 45-minute fashion show emceed by Audrey Brown.
Ruthie's features name brand fashions -- including plus-sized clothing -- as well as jewelry and accessories.
"The shop is also known for the extra-personal service delivered to its clientele," Bleiler said.
Ruth Carpenter, shop owner and namesake, expressed excitement at being part of the local Women's Club show which benefits New Holland Service Organizations and Hugh O'Brian Youth scholarships.
"Fashion brands featured in the show will include Tribal, Focus, Erin London, Jess & Jane, Janska along with Treska jewelry," Carpenter said.
Accessories will be available for guests to purchase at the show.
The luncheon menu includes punch, crackers with dip, turkey cranberry pecan salad, croissant, fresh fruit salad, potato chips, lemon bars and beverages.
Tickets cost $25 and can be purchased at the door.
Doors open at 11 a.m. Luncheon is served at noon followed by the fashion show at 1 p.m. Shady Maple Banquet Room is located at 129 Toddy Drive, East Earl.
