Housing partnership offers scholarships
The nonprofit Lancaster Housing Opportunity Partnership is offering two new college scholarships totaling $1,500 in an effort to raise awareness of the needs and benefits of affordable housing.
Lancaster County high school seniors planning to pursue post-secondary education may submit an application and either an essay of 600 words or less or a video of two-to-five minutes in length to apply for the competition. Scholarships of $1,000 and $500 will be awarded.
Students will be required to delve into key questions of affordable housing, such as, who benefits from affordable housing, why should people be concerned about having housing choices across all income levels and what is the need for affordable housing in Lancaster County?
Applications and materials are due by 4:30 p.m. Friday, April 26. Winners will be announced by June 1. More information and applications can be found at lhop.org or by calling 291-9945, ext. 0.
