Leach leads Albany past Hershey, 5-3
Albany defenseman Jay Leach scored two goals and the Devils chased Hershey starting goalie Philipp Gubauer from the net in a 5-3 win Friday night at the Times Union Center.
Grubauer, who entered the game with a 2.20 goals-against average and .923 save percentage, was pulled with 12:56 to play in second period after allowing three goals on seven shots. Goalie Dany Sabourin stopped seven of eight shots in relief.
Joe Whitney, Cam Janssen and Darcy Zajac each added goals for the Devils while goalie Keith Kinkaid made 28 saves in the win.
Joey Crabb had a goal and an assist for Hershey while Peter LeBlanc and Casey Wellman each scored a goal.
Hershey was 2 for 8 on the power play and outshot Albany 31-18.
