With inclement weather expected to hit the area, Franklin & Marshall's non-conference baseball matchup against Drew has been canceled. Today's contest was scheduled to be played at DiamondNation in Flemington, N.J., and will not be rescheduled.
The Diplomats will return to action at 3 p.m. Thursday at Rowan.
Millersville center Elijah Obade and Slippery Rock's Luiz Santos have earned PSAC Men's Basketball Defensive Athletes of the Year honors.
Obade earned Defensive Athlete of the Year in the East Division mostly for his blocked shots. Obade registered 72 blocked shots this season, a league-leading 2.5 per game. He also leads the conference in defensive rebounds with 209, the only athlete in the PSAC to exceed 200. Obade is averaging 11.2 rebounds per game, alongside 11.7 points per game.
Millersville teammate Larry Grant was named to the All-PSAC East second team.
Six members of the Franklin & Marshall field hockey team have been named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III Academic Squad, announced Tuesday. The Diplomats also received the National Academic Team Award, given to teams with a combined team GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Seniors Diana Aulisa and Rachel Cooke earned spots on the team for the fourth year in a row, while classmates Maura Hennigan and Dana Venditti made it onto the squad for the third time. Freshmen Clare Wirth and Lauren Eastman also garnered the award, which recognizes student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the first semester of the 2012-13 academic year.
