Robert "Sonny" Rineer
Robert "Sonny" Rineer, 79, of Columbia, was called to Jesus on Wednesday, February 27, 2013. Affectionately called Sonny, he was surrounded by his wife, daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren in the weeks preceding his death. Sonny was born on November 12, 1933, and was raised in Columbia. He was the son of the late Thomas and Catherine (Rineer) Price. Robert attended Columbia High School, ultimately going into the Army and fighting in the Korean War. Upon arriving home from combat, Robert married his soul mate, Elizabeth Wile, on December 24, 1954. They settled in Columbia, where they went on to have 5 children. Sonny retired from Frank Sahd?s Salvage Center in Columbia; prior to being employed by Sahd?s, Sonny was employed by Columbia Burial Vault. Sonny loved to go hunting, play cards, go fishing and spending time with his family, where he had no trouble being the life of every party.Robert is survived by his faithful and true soul mate and wife of 58 years, Elizabeth (Wile) Rineer. Robert is also survived by his daughter, Teresa (Rineer) Sechrist and husband Robert, with whom he resided, Elizabeth (Rineer) Hubert wife of the late Richard "Mush" Hubert, Lancaster, Robert Rineer, Jr. companion of Debbie Johns, Tennessee and Stephen Rineer husband of Tammy (Smith) Rineer, Columbia.Sonny is leaving behind not only his much-loved wife and children, but also 9 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. He will be missed by his remaining siblings, Thomas Price husband of Carol, Reading, and his sisters, Joan Robinson and Emma Wright, both of Columbia. He is also leaving behind long-time friends who have celebrated and mourned countless life events alongside of him.Sonny is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Joseph Rineer; his grandson, Harold Marshall Sechrist; his sister, Sandra Creasy; and his brother, Charles "Hump" Price.A viewing for Sonny will be held Saturday, March 2, 2013, from Clyde W. Kraft Funeral Home, Inc., 519 Walnut Street, Columbia from 9-11 a.m. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. Please omit flowers.
