William G. Miller, Jr., 75, of Lancaster, went home to Heaven on Tuesday, February 12, 2013, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Quarryville on August 3, 1937, he was a son of the late W. Gerald Miller and Anna (Hassler) Miller. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Diane (Charles) Miller. Bill was a 1955 graduate of Solanco High School. He worked as a surveyor for Huth Engineering and also as an electronic technician for RCA. Bill was a proud 38 year employee of Ferguson and Hassler Supermarket. Bill was a volunteer firefighter for the Quarryville Fire Dept., a member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, and a 32nd Degree Master Mason with the Washington Lodge #156 in Quarryville. He was also an active member of the National Rifle Assoc., Izaak Walton League, and the American Chestnut Foundation. Bill was best known as an avid hunter, fisher, and all-around sportsman. He was a lifelong supporter of Penn State Football. More notably, Bill had a generous smile, a warm and loving disposition, and had a kind word for everyone he came across. He was a loving and faithful husband, a patient and supportive father, a doting and proud grandfather, and an amazingly awesome friend! In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by a son, William G., III, husband of Barbara Miller of Westfield, PA; a daughter, Elizabeth, wife of Theodore Pyle, Jr. of Lancaster; a daughter, Dawn, wife of Jeff Peters of Lititz; a son, Robert, husband of Kimberly Garvey of Millersville; and grandchildren: Victoria Pyle, Lara Pyle, Isabella Peters, Robert William Garvey, Jack Garvey, and Magnolia Garvey. Also surviving is a brother, Robert, husband of Suzanne Miller of Salem, OR. Services Celebrating a Life Well Lived will take place at Dewald Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., 227 West Fourth St., Quarryville, PA 17566 on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Robert Garvey officiating.
