A 10-year-old girl was left alone in a Caernarvon Township home with no heat when her father headed off to Indiana on Tuesday, according to state police.

Jabari W. Wallace, 34, left the girl in a home at 1906 Main Street, just west of Churchtown.

She was discovered there later that day by state troopers from Embreeville who came to the home to interview Wallace about a separate investigation, Trooper Pao H. Pha said.

The girl was taken from the house and placed in foster care.

Pha said both he and a social worker have had contact with Wallace, who had not returned to Lancaster County as of late Wednesday.

Pha said he did not know how long Wallace had planned to be away when he left his daughter Tuesday.

Wallace will be sent a summons on a charge of endangering the welfare of children.
