Startup Weekend Feb. 22 at F&M Restaurant Store set for Baltimore BWI sets another passenger record
Startup Weekend, an event that brings together entrepreneurs and mentors, will be held at Franklin & Marshall College Friday, Feb. 22, to Sunday, Feb. 24.
The event, at F&M's Life Science & Philosophy Building, begins at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 22 with entrepreneurs pitching their ideas for startup technology companies.
Entrepreneurs with the most popular ideas then will team with mentors, veteran entrepreneurs and experts in supporting fields to develop their ideas, which will be pitched to a panel of judges at 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24. The winner gets $10,000.
Startup Weekend, a Seattle-based nonprofit, has held more than 325 of its events worldwide since its inception in 2007. The event at F&M is being organized by local volunteers with the support of local and national sponsors.
The Restaurant Store will open a Baltimore location in mid-March, the company said Tuesday.
With 15 employees, the 57,200-square-foot location at 121 Kane St. will be stocked with 8,000 restaurant supply and equipment items.
The Restaurant Store serves primarily food-service professionals, but consumers are welcome, too.
The Baltimore site will be the seventh for The Restaurant Store, a division of Lancaster-based Clark Associates.
LINTHICUM, Md. (AP) -- For the third year in a row Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport has set a record for passenger traffic.
More than 22.6 million passengers used the airport in 2012. That's an increase of 1.3 percent over 2011, when about 22.4 million commercial passengers flew through the airport.
