Ellis Martzall, 94, formerly Denver, died Feb. 10, 2013, in Ephrata Manor. Born in W. Cocalico Twp., a son of Samuel M. and Stella R. (Fisher) Martzall, his wife, Eleanor J. (Sweigart) Martzall, died Dec. 24, 1994. Ellis attended White Oak and E. Cocalico Vocational Schools and was a WWII Army veteran serving in Germany and the Philippines. A member of Swamp Christian Fellowship, Reinholds, he enjoyed auctions, fishing in Canada and Lake Erie, & snowmobiling in NY and Canada. Retiring in 1989, he was founder and president of E. F. Martzall, Inc., a Reinholds general construction company. Ellis was an 18 year chairman of W. Cocalico Board of Supervisors, past pres. of Berks Co. Home Builders Assoc. & life member of Reinholds Fire Co.. Active in Lions International since becoming a member of Denver Lions Club in 1953, then president; he was the charter pres. of Reinholds Lions Club 1965-66; Melvin Jones Fellow recipient; District 14-D Governor 1975-76; and served many district committees; also, a member of Ephrata Lodge #665 F&AM; Rajah Shrine Club and past reception committee pres. Surviving: daughters: Ernestine M. (Larry L.) Gensemer & Estella F. (John A.) Reich, both Reinholds; grandchildren: Stephanie Benne, Denver; Lewis Gensemer, Reinholds; Anita (Scott) Lied, Stevens; Audrey (Vince) Lafferty, Denver; Kurt (Christine) Reich, and Kent (Meredith) Reich, both Reinholds; great-grandchildren: Brandi (Andrew) Powell; Ashley Gensemer; Kayla (Joe) Shindle; Kelcey Benne; Olivia, Margot & Savannah Lied; Joshua, Jordan & Alyssa Wingenroth; Dustin, Nicholas & Danielle Reich; great-great-grandchildren: Ethan, Violet & Alexander; and brothers: Alvin, Akron; Chester, Ephrata & Harlan, Reinholds. A sister, Kathryn Stahley, predeceased him. FUNERAL: Sat., Feb. 16, 10 AM, Good Funeral Home, Reamstown. BURIAL: Swamp Cemetery, Reinholds. VIEWINGS: Friday 6-8 PM & Saturday 9-10 AM.
