BY P.J. REILLY, Staff Writer
Two brothers were captured by Lancaster city police Monday night after they held up a grocery store and made off with a cash register, police said.
Troy Fry, 23, and Taylor Fry, 21, both of Lancaster, were charged with robbery and conspiracy after the 7:40 p.m. heist at Superstar Grocery, 601 N. Lime St.
According to police, witnesses reported that a man entered the grocery store, displayed a handgun and demanded money.
An employee had difficulty opening a cash register, police said, so the robber grabbed it off the counter and fled the store.
Police arrived a short time later and, while canvassing the area, came upon the Fry brothers on Burrowes Avenue.
Troy ran from police but was caught about a block away.
A robbery witness identified him as the man who had held up the store, police said.
Between the grocery store and the spot on Burrowes Avenue where police encountered the Fry brothers, officers found a pellet gun and the missing cash register.
The brothers were sent to Lancaster County Prison.
