ASH WEDNESDAY SERVICES LENTEN SERVICES

n Ascension Lutheran Church, 600 E. Penn Grant Road, Willow Street, will worship at 7:30 p.m. Ash Wednesday.

n Bellevue Presbyterian Church, 810 Newport Ave., Gap, will offer midweek Lenten services on "Stories Jesus Told" from 12:10 to 12:40 p.m. Ash Wednesday and the following Wednesdays through March 20. n The Rev. Robert W. Birch will lead a service of prayer, reflection and anointing with ashes at Leacock Presbyterian Church, 3181 Lincoln Highway East, Paradise, at 7 p.m. Ash Wednesday. For more information, call 687-6619.

n St. Paul Episcopal Church, 340 Locust St., Columbia, will worship in a Eucharist service with the imposition of ashes at 9:30 a.m. Ash Wednesday and observe the Stations of the Cross at 6:30 p.m. Friday and the following Fridays during Lent.

n St. John Lutheran Church, 223 W. Orange St., will focus on "Living Lent: The Animals Tell the Story" in services at noon Ash Wednesday and the following Wednesdays through March 20, concluding on Maundy Thursday, March 28. A light lunch will be served. For more information, call 394-2881.

n St. John's United Methodist Church, 3001 E. Lincoln Highway, Paradise, will focus on "Forty Days of Love" during Lent, beginning in a 7 p.m. Ash Wednesday service, with the imposition of ashes.

n The Most Rev. Joseph P. McFadden, bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Harrisburg, will celebrate Mass and distribute ashes at Masses on Ash Wednesday at noon at St. Patrick Cathedral, 212 State St., Harrisburg, and at 5:10 p.m. at York College in Brougher Chapel, 931 S. Pershing Ave., York.

n St. Paul Lutheran Church, 222 N. George St., Millersville, will worship in services at noon and 7 p.m. Ash Wednesday.

n St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 10 Delp Road, will worship in services with Holy Communion and the imposition of ashes at 7 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Ash Wednesday.

n Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church of Kissel Hill, 26 Owl Hill Road, Lititz, will worship in a service of Holy Communion and the imposition of ashes at 7 p.m. Ash Wednesday. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. The Rev. William Martin will lead a Lenten study series on "Life Questions from Revelation" on Wednesdays, Feb. 20 to March 20, with dinner at 6 p.m. and a service and discussion at 7 p.m.

n Salem United Church of Christ, 2312 Marietta Ave., will offer a service of imposition of ashes and sacrament of Holy Communion in fellowship hall at 7 p.m. Ash Wednesday.

n Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ, 450 W. Main St., Mountville, will mark Ash Wednesday in a 7:30 p.m. Taize service, with the imposition of ashes and Communion. The Rev. Megan M. Malick will preach. For more information, go to www.MountvilleTrinityUCC.org.

n The United Methodist River Hills Cluster of Churches will focus on "Meeting the Jesus of the Bible," based on Philip Yancey's book "The Jesus I Never Knew," in a series of Lenten services at 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays beginning Ash Wednesday. Following is the schedule:

Ash Wednesday: The Rev. Art Rettew will preach in a service, with Communion and optional imposition of ashes, at Colemanville UMC, 210 Colemanville Church Road, Conestoga.

Feb. 20: The Rev. Glenn Brown, at Green Hill UMC, 5801 River Road, Conestoga.

Feb. 27: The Rev. Don Sweimler, at Stehman Memorial UMC, 485 Indian Run Road, Millersville.

March 6: The Rev. Rick Rimert, at Marticville UMC, 641 Marticville Road, Pequea.

March 13: The Rev. Jim Goudie, at Conestoga UMC, 71 Sand Hill Road, Conestoga.

March 20: The Rev. Helen Adams, at Rawlinsville UMC, 1043 Truce Road, Holtwood.

Pastors will lead discussions on their sermons at 6:30 and 10 a.m. the following Thursdays through March 21 at the Conestoga Wagon, 2961 Main St. Continental breakfast, by donation, will be available.
