Ann W. Mickey
Ann Mickey, 92, passed away on January 29, 2013 at Homestead Village in Lancaster, her loving husband Robert at her side.Ann was born February 27, 1920 in Oakland, CA to Stanley and Gertrude Welch. In 1942, she graduated with an Economics degree from CAL Berkeley and married Bob Mickey.
Ann worked at the New London Electric Boat Co. near Mystic, CT and on Wall Street in New York. In 1950 they came to Lancaster, living near F&M, where Bob taught, and close to St. Peter?s UCC where Ann was active. Ann created a warm, loving home for Bob and their two children. Ann was a devoted and gifted teacher for Lancaster County and City Schools, retiring in 1986. She was a long-time member of Art Class, stayed active in her church and community. Ann and Bob traveled after retirement and moved to Homestead Village. Lancaster was home for 63 years. In addition to her husband of 70 years, Ann is survived by her daughter Sarah Moore (Glenn); daughter-in-law Maria Mickey; grandsons Greg Moore (Melanie), Alan Moore (Kristin) and Kale Millisock. She was preceded in death by her son, David John Mickey.Ann was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, Nana, teacher and friend. We cherish her eternal brightness.Our family remembrance is private.
