Firefighters help extinguish blaze in West Sadsbury
BY P.J. REILLY, Staff Writer
Multiple Lancaster County fire companies responded to the scene of a fire at a business in western Chester County on Monday morning.
The fire was reported at Farm Built Machine, 633 Quarry Road, West Sadsbury Township, at 6:55 a.m.
The business is located just a mile from the Lancaster/Chester County line.
Fire officials said the building suffered heavy smoke and fire damage.
Troy Wenger, chief of Gap Fire Company, said a preliminary investigation of the blaze indicated it likely was caused by a leak in a hose carrying propane to a gas-powered lantern.
No one was injured in the fire, which remains under investigation by state police and Chester County fire marshals.
An estimate of the damage costs was not immediately available Monday.
In addition to the Gap Fire Company, firefighters from the White Horse and Kinzer fire companies also were among those who responded to the scene.
