Miriam E. Benedict

Miriam E. Benedict, age 95, of St. Anne?s Retirement Community, died peacefully, Saturday, February 9, 2013. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Wilhelmina Kienzle Klessinger. She was the wife of the late William L. Benedict, Sr.; he died in 1983. Miriam was an active member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Columbia; she was a member of the church?s Altar Rosary Society and helped with the annual fasnacht sale. She was a clerk for the Columbia Borough Sewer Authority; earlier in life she worked in ticket sales at the former State Theater in Columbia. Miriam was a member of the Grinnell Retirement Club. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends.

Miriam is survived by a daughter: Patricia wife of C. Michael Kilduff of Columbia, 4 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a son: William L. Benedict, Jr., and her brothers: Ralph, Walter, and Christian Klessinger.A Mass of Christian Burial for Miriam will be held Thursday, February 14, 2013, from Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 4th and Cherry Streets, Columbia, at 11am (Viewing 10-11am) with Reverend Kenneth Lawrence as Celebrant. Interment will follow in Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery. Please omit flowers.
