Disappointed show was canceled
TO THE EDITORS:
As a registered Republican and outdoorsman, I am disappointed the Eastern Sports show got canceled. I was going for the first time to buy hunting guns for my two boys and to support the vendors who still showed up.
I respected the decision of the organizers not to allow sales of assault rifles and big magazines for them. That they were based in Connecticut is significant to me. Maybe they wanted to show respect for victims of the Newtown school shooting.
Wayne LaPierre made a comment about existing gun law enforcement being a national disgrace. I call the NRA's arrogance, and America going gun-shopping crazy and not working together as a nation for decent common-sense gun control in the wake of the tragedy at Newtown, a national disgrace.
I like my guns, but I love my children. We all need to work together to make our nation safer for our children and us as well. We also need to listen to our mayors and police chiefs and they're all saying we need gun control.
