BURGLARY CHARGES DUI FUGITIVE RECEIVING STOLEN PROPERTY SIMPLE ASSAULT THEFT CHARGES
LANCASTER: Norman James Grove, 52, who is homeless, broke into a woman's home in the 1200 block of St. Joseph Street Thursday morning, city police said in a criminal complaint. He broke a side wooden door and a front wooden door and door jamb. Total damage is $850.
The woman has a protection from abuse order issued last summer against Grove and he is not allowed to be in the home, police said. Arriving police found Grove standing in the kitchen, naked. He could not explain how he had gotten into the home. Police charged Grove with burglary and criminal mischief.
EARL TWP.: James Alton Locklear, 27, of 237 Kimberly Lane, Ephrata, broke into a structure in the 400 block of Daryl Lane early Thursday morning and stole a gas can, New Holland police said. He then allegedly broke into another building on an adjoining property and stole an all-terrain vehicle. Locklear crashed the ATV into a stream and fled to a home in the same block. Police arrested him and charged him with burglary, criminal trespass and theft by unlawful taking or disposition. He was committed to Lancaster County Prison on outstanding warrants.
EAST LAMPETER TWP.: Two vehicles crashed in the 2100 block of Horseshoe Road on Wednesday.
Antonio Rosilaino Lopez, 25, of Lancaster, was driving south on Horseshoe Road and struck the back of a lawfully-stopped southbound vehicle that was preparing to turn left into Conestoga Valley High School.
Lopez and the other driver, Amber Lizak, 38, of Lititz, were treated for minor injuries at the scene. Lopez was taken into custody and will be charged with DUI, driving without a license and driving at an unsafe speed.
MANHEIM TWP.: Raymond C. Robertson, 31, of Haskell Drive, was taken into custody at his residence Thursday after police learned that he was wanted in Marion County, Fla. He was charged with fugitive from justice and was committed to Lancaster County Prison in lieu of $100,000 bail.
LANCASTER TWP.: Michael P. Emmet Jr., 26, of Media Avenue, was arrested for receiving stolen property. On Wednesday, he was stopped in the 1300 block of Columbia Avenue after an officer determined that the Chevrolet Suburban he was driving had been reported stolen in Denver, Colo. Emmet was arraigned and committed to Lancaster County Prison in lieu of $30,000 bail.
EAST DONEGAL TWP.: Carl L. Jones Jr., 34, of 240 Weldon Alley, Mount Joy, was charged on Thursday related to a domestic violence incident Nov. 19 in the first block of Jewel Drive, Susquehanna Regional police said. A female required medical treatment for her injuries.
PROVIDENCE TWP.: Township resident Aaron Raeburn, 34, assaulted a township woman in the 900 block of Pennsy Road Wednesday night and was taken into custody, state police reported.
EPHRATA: Ephrata police arrested Ryan J. Groff, 21, of Lancaster, on Thursday after he allegedly stole $1,118.85 worth of items from Walmart, 890 E. Main St. He was charged with felony retail theft because of prior convictions.
EAST LAMPETER TWP.: Daniel Steven Hamilton, 26, of Lancaster, allegedly stole an FM Smart Phone converter valued at $69.88 on Thursday at Walmart, 2034 Lincoln Highway East. He was taken into custody and charged.
MANHEIM TWP.: A criminal complaint was filed against township resident Nathan E. Grove, 19, of Center Avenue. In early March and late October 2012, police received numerous reports of items being stolen overnight from unlocked vehicles in the Grandview Heights and Country Club Estates neighborhoods in Manheim Township. Stolen items included GPS units, phone chargers, jewelry, cash and loose change. Total loss $1,128. Investigators linked Grove to the crimes and charged him with 16 counts of theft from a motor vehicle.
The misdemeanor charges were filed before District Judge David Miller, and a hearing will be scheduled.
EAST LAMPETER TWP.: Isabel Alexis Escobar, 20, of Lancaster, on Wednesday allegedly concealed a wallet and clothing valued at $28.96 and left Walmart without paying for them. She was taken into custody and charged.
SALISBURY TWP.: Alecia N. Bivens, 26, of Palmyra, was driving west on Mine Road shortly before noon on Wednesday when she slowed down and tried to turn left onto Gap Road, state police said. Vincent A. Cortlessa Jr., 30, of Elverson, did not realize Bivens was turning and tried to pass her. His minivan struck Bivens' driver's door and pushed her car into a utility pole. Bivens was transported to Lancaster General Hospital with a minor injury, police said. Cortlessa was not injured.
