Former MC chief lands in Solanco

The former superintendent of Manheim Central School District is now working as a principal in Solanco.
William Clark was hired Jan. 28 as interim principal of Quarryville Elementary School. He will be in the position through the end of the school year.
Clark resigned in November from Manheim Central, a district he had headed since 2010, after the school board relieved him of his duties for unspecified reasons.
He had been placed on paid leave Sept. 25 after board members reviewed the findings of a report on district personnel and operational issues provided by an outside law firm.
Clark was never publicly accused of any wrongdoing, and Manheim Central board president Bryan Howett said nothing he did involved "anything that endangered" the district.
Howett declined to say why the board and superintendent parted ways.
Clark and the school district signed a release and settlement agreement that prohibits either side from publicly disparaging each other. Under the agreement, Clark was paid about $33,000 and was released from his five-year contract with the district.
Solanco Superintendent Martin Hudacs said he had no concerns about hiring Clark, who will fill in for Quarryville Principal James O'Brien, who is on medical leave. "There was nothing in the conditions under which (Clark) left Manheim Central that were suspicious at all," said Hudacs, who approached Clark to take the Quarryville post.
"Nothing that was involved in his dismissal was anything illegal or immoral or anything that would have me apprehensive about him working with our kids and staff," Hudacs said.
Reached at Quarryville Elementary, Clark declined to comment on why he left Manheim Central.
The Quarryville position "affords me the opportunity to try out another district" and to get back to working with students, "which I have really enjoyed," he said.
Clark said he plans to pursue other job opportunities after finishing the year at Quarryville. He will be paid $325 per day for a minimum of 95 days, plus benefits.
