Storm misses county Snow just another 'nuisance event'

A storm that was expected to dump snow measured by the foot, not the inch on much of the East Coast spared Lancaster County.
Wet, intermittent snow began falling early Friday evening, but only about a coating to inch was expected here, according to Millersville University meteorologist Eric Horst.
"Once again, we dodged a bullet, as the worst of the storm is hitting from northern Jersey into New England," he said Friday night.
Earlier Friday, he called the storm that was expected to pound New England a "nuisance event" for the county -- much like the other snowfalls this winter that have not amounted to much.
Horst did say earlier in the day that the extreme northeast of the county, around Adamstown and Terre Hill, could see up to 4 inches of snow.
But he also said there was a 20 percent chance the storm could develop farther out to sea and bring less snow.
That appeared to be the case.
After the snow tapered off Friday evening, just flurries and overnight snow showers were Horst's latest call, along with gusty winds out of the northwest at 15 to 25 mph.
Today should be windy, with morning clouds and flurries giving way to afternoon sun. The high temperature should be 30 to 34 degrees, with a low of 16 to 20.
Sunday's weather is expected to be mostly sunny, with increasing clouds later in the day and a high of 36 to 40.
An active pattern to the west could bring rain, with the possibility of freezing rain, around daybreak Monday, Horst said.
