BASKETBALL TCU upsets Kansas ASSOCIATED PRESS,
Garlon Green scored 20 points and TCU held on for a 62-55 upset of fifth-ranked Kansas on Wednesday night for the Horned Frogs' first Big 12 victory.
The Jayhawks (19-3, 7-2 Big 12), coming off a loss four days earlier against Oklahoma State, have their first losing streak in more than seven years. They had played 264 games in a row since January 2006 without consecutive losses, the longest active streak in NCAA Division I.
TCU (10-12, 1-8) never trailed in the game, which marked the midpoint of its conference schedule in its first Big 12 season, also the first season for new coach Trent Johnson.
Kansas, which has won or shared 12 of the 16 regular-season Big 12 titles since the league started, didn't score its first points until more than 7 minutes into the game. The Jayhawks finished with their fewest points in nearly six years.
Providence 54, Cincinnati 50: Kadeem Batts scored 25 points and the Friars narrowly won their second straight game after holding a late lead, beating the No. 17 Bearcats (18-5, 6-4 Big East).
Indiana State 76, Creighton 57: Jake Odum scored 22 points, topping the 1,000-point mark for his career to lead the Sycamores past the No. 16 Bluejays.
Marquette 70, South Florida 47: Todd Mayo and Vander Blue both scored 13 points to help the No. 24 Golden Eagles.
Mayo had all of his season-high 13 points in the first half as Marquette (16-5, 7-2 Big East) grabbed a 39-16 halftime lead.
South Florida (10-12, 1-9) got 14 points from Zach LeDay. The Bulls have lost five in a row.
Oklahoma State 69, Baylor 67: Michael Cobbins blocked a shot then converted a fast-break layup with two-tenths of a second left in overtime, lifting the No. 22 Cowboys.
Marcus Smart scored 14 points and Markel Brown added 13 for Oklahoma State (16-5, 6-3 Big 12 Conference), which blew a 14-point lead in the final 7:40 of regulation and twice trailed by three points in overtime before extending its winning streak to four games.
Arizona 73, Stanford 66: Mark Lyons scored a season-high 25 points and led a key stretch in the second half, helping the No. 7 Wildcats hold off Stanford.
Michigan State 61, Minnesota 50: Gary Harris scored 15 points and Keith Appling added 14 points to help the No. 12 Spartans (19-4, 8-2 Big Ten) bounce back from a poor first half to beat No. 18 Minnesota (17-6, 5-5).
Louisville 68, Rutgers 48: Wayne Blackshear scored a career-high 19 points and hit a 3-pointer to ignite a 23-2 run early in the second half that carried the No. 11 Cardinals (19-4, 7-3 Big East) to the victory over the Scarlet Knights (12-9, 3-7).
Butler 77, St. Bonaventure 58: Rotnei Clarke scored 17 points to lead the No. 14 Bulldogs.
Andrew Smith added 13 points and Khyle Marshall and Chase Stigall each scored 12 as the Bulldogs (19-4, 6-2 Atlantic 10) improved to 12-0 at home this season.
Dayton 60, St. Joseph's 54: Kevin Dillard scored 23 points and the Flyers won their fourth straight game.
George Washington 79, Duquesne 57: Lasan Kromah scored 19 points as the Colonials extended the Dukes' losing streak to 10 games.
Temple 89, Charlotte 88: Khalif Wyatt scored 25 points, including a clinching free throw in the closing seconds, to lead the Owls.
Temple (15-7, 4-4) got a personal season-high 22 points from Jake O'Brien.
