James McCollum, executive deputy to the president and chief of staff at Millersville University, has been named acting president of the school through April 1, when John Anderson will begin his duties as president.

He replaces Francine G. McNairy, who retired last month after 10 years as president.

McCollum, from Youngstown, Ohio, earned a bachelor's degree from Youngstown State University and a juris doctor from the University of Akron.

Prior to his arrival at Millersville, McCollum served for 10 years as CEO of the inter-university council of Ohio, an education association representing the collective interests of the state's public universities.
