MEETINGS:

·The Lancaster North Women's Connection will meet Wednesday, March 6, at Enck's Banquet and Conference Center, 1461 Lancaster Road, Manheim.

Doors open at 11:30 a.m. and the luncheon is at noon.

The theme will be "Renew & Refresh." Featured will be Arianna's Retreat, an Italian spa getaway. Speaker will be Irene McFadden of Exton on "Meet Me in the Garden." Melissa Weissner will provide special music.

·The Spinnin' Spurs 4-H Horse Club will hold its reorganizational meeting Monday at 6:30 p.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 90 S. Charlotte St., Manheim.

Youth need to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, and bring with them a calendar and pencil to plan activities.

The club provides educational opportunities but does not provide horses or riding lessons. It is open to youth between 8 and 18 by Jan. 1.

·The Mount Joy 4-H Community Club will hold its reorganizational meeting Monday at 7 p.m. at Crossroads Brethren in Christ Church, 800 Donegal Springs Road, Mount Joy.

The club is open to anyone between 8 and 18 by Jan. 1.

Youth should bring a calendar and pencil to check availability for project meeting dates. A parent or legal guardian should plan to stay for the meeting.

WORKSHOP: The Elizabethtown Public Library will hold a Simple Machines Workshop on Monday, Feb. 25, at 6:30 p.m.

Recommended for children ages 6 to 12, the workshop will include instruction, demonstrations and activities based upon simple machines. Children will learn basic concepts of motion and machines, force and energy.

Instructor will be Lauren Schaller, education coordinator for the Lancaster Science Factory.

The program is free.

COURSE: Flotilla 14-03 of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary will hold a Pennsylvania Basic Boating Course on Saturday, March 26, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Lititz American Legion, 109 N. Broad St.

Topics will include boat handling, navigation and rules of the road.

All boaters 21 and under who operate a vessel with greater than 25 horsepower must have a boating certificate to operate a boat in Pennsylvania. Those who wish to operate a boat should complete the course and will be given a state certificate of compliance.

Preregistration is required and can be made by calling Terry Millard, 627-3885, by March 11.
