Truck engine cable thefts reported BY RYAN ROBINSON

Thieves are stealing expensive extension cords from businesses in East Lampeter Township, police reported.
The heavy-gauge cords, or cables, are plugged into diesel trucks to keep the engine warm in very cold temperatures.
Five cords were stolen at H.L. Wiker & Sons, 709 Hartman Station Road, overnight Monday, township police Lt. Robin Weaver said.
Together, they are valued at $500.
Similar cords were stolen during the last week of December and the first week of January from Harvey Industries, 1701 Hempstead Road, in the Greenfield Corporate Center, Weaver said. That is less than a mile from Wiker.
Several hundred dollars worth of cords were stolen in each of those instances, he said.
"The cables are expensive due to the gauge," Weaver said. "Scrap (metal) would be the most common motive, but due to the value, they may be resold in the trucking industry."
Police ask anyone with information to call them at 291-4676.
