Picking up a $55 grocery tab
TO THE EDITORS:
It's been heartwarming and amazing reading all the recent acts of kindness people have been doing for others.
Recently, I experienced one of those kind acts. I was at Musser's Market in Columbia. I had trouble using my card at the checkout. I tried several times to no avail, and was getting upset and embarrassed. I decided to go to the end of the line to figure out what the problem was.
When I got back to the cashier, she said the gentleman behind me, when I was in line the first time, had paid my entire bill of $55. I was shocked, and sorry that I had not observed who he was.
I'd like to shake his hand and pay him back. That is a lot of money to give a stranger. To that giving, compassionate person, if you see me again, please introduce yourself to me.
Thank you, friend.
